Delhi weather: IMD predicts ‘cold day’, minimum temperature likely to remain at 8 degrees Celsius – Henry’s Club

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a ‘cold day’ in parts of Delhi on Monday when maximum temperatures are likely to remain well below normal.

A ‘cold day’ is recorded when the maximum temperature is 4.5 to 6.4 degrees below normal and the minimum temperature is less than or equal to 10 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature is likely to be around 8 degrees Celsius on Monday, while the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 17 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature was 8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 14.9 degrees Celsius, which is about six degrees below normal. The temperature on Monday at 8.30 am was 9.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD update released on Monday morning, in the next five days, the minimum temperature is likely to drop by 2 to 3 degrees over some parts of northwest India. Cold wave conditions are expected in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Rajasthan from January 25 to 28.

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the air quality in Delhi, which was in the ‘poor’ category on Sunday with an AQI of 202, is likely to remain in the ‘poor’ category on Monday as well. The wind speed is estimated to be around 8 kmph, and an average wind speed of less than 10 kmph is considered unfavorable for the dispersal of pollutants as predicted.
