Friend Nidhi, who was seen with Anjali before the accident, has now become an important figure in the entire investigation. Nidhi on Tuesday claimed that she was with the victim during the accident and alleged that the accused also tried to run over her in a car. He also said that the people in the car knew that Anjali was trapped below, but still they continued to drag her.

In an exclusive conversation with CNN-News18, she said that she made an unsuccessful attempt to save him and was scared to report the matter to the police. “I was disheartened. The victim did not know the boys. The men in the car tried to run over me as well. The incident took place between 2-3 pm. I tried to save her but did not succeed. The victim ran for help. But people pulled her along with the car. I was scared to report the matter to the police,” she said.

On Wednesday, Nidhi’s claims of Anjali being drunk were refuted by her family member Bhupendra Singh Chaurasia, who had her autopsy report, saying the postmortem report showed no signs of alcoholism. Anjali’s mother also said that she never drank alcohol and Nidhi’s allegations were ‘baseless’. Police said on Wednesday that Nidhi was intoxicated.
