Delhi reports two new cases of Omron variant, know state-wise break up

New Delhi: Two new cases of Omicron type have been detected in New Delhi, taking the city’s total to 24. The Delhi Health Ministry said that out of these 24 patients, 12 have been discharged and 12 are undergoing treatment.

As the number of omicron cases continues to rise in the country, India has recorded 155 cases of the variant so far which is likely to increase in the coming days.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra’s Omicron tally rose to 54 after six persons tested positive for the variant in the state. According to a PTI report, two of these patients had a travel history to Tanzania, while two others had returned from England and one from the Middle East. Of these, five have been fully immunized.

Gujarat

Four new cases of the Omicron type of coronavirus were also reported in Gujarat on Monday.

A 45-year-old NRI and a teenage boy who has come from the UK, a woman from Surat who had recently traveled to Dubai and a Tanzanian national are new patients of the Omicron variant in Gujarat.

Karnataka

Five more cases of Omicron type of novel coronavirus were found in Karnataka, taking the total number to 19.

According to Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, five cases were detected in Dharwad, Bhadravati, Udupi and Mangaluru in Shivamogga district on Sunday.

He said a 54-year-old man from Dharwad, a 20-year-old woman from Bhadravati, an 82-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from Udupi, and a 19-year-old woman from Mangaluru contracted the Omicron variant.

All infected people have been vaccinated with both doses of the CoviShield vaccine. Their travel history and contacts with international travelers are being traced.

The department said that none of them have any COVID-19 symptoms and were healthy.
