New DelhiA minor fire broke out in Uphaar Cinema Hall located in the Green Park area of ​​the national capital on Sunday morning.

However, no casualties were reported in the fire, which affected the balcony and floor of the theatre.

Director of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg said that the information about the fire was received at 4:46 am and nine fire tenders were sent to the spot.

Garg said that the seats, furniture and garbage in the cinema hall caught fire.

He said that the fire was brought under control around 7.20 am.

Uphaar Cinema had earlier witnessed a massive fire incident on June 13, 1997, in which 59 people were killed and over 100 were injured.

The cinema hall was closed after a massive fire in 1997, in which around 150 film spectators were trapped.

Real estate businessman Gopal Ansal and theater owner Sushil Ansal were found guilty of causing death by negligence.

In February this year, the Delhi High Court had dismissed a petition seeking suspension of the seven-year jail term of real estate businessmen in Uphaar Cinema’s tampering of evidence case.

Earlier last year, real estate baron and former court staff Dinesh Chand Sharma and two others – PP Batra and Anoop Singh Karat – were sentenced to seven years in prison by a trial court and the sessions court suspended the sentence and released them. had refused. them on bail.
