Delhi MCD gets 13 anti-fog sprinklers to fight smog, pollution

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on January 23 inaugurated 13 multi-purpose vehicles equipped with anti-fog sprinklers and anti-clogging features to clean the city’s roads. Officials said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has procured 28 such vehicles from the environment ministry, adding that 13 were flagged off and the rest would arrive by February 15. The cost of each vehicle is Rs 35.95 lakh. An official said the vehicles carry a 5,000-litre water tanker, each fitted with a sprinkler system, jetting arrangement and an anti-smog gun. The vehicle is capable of spraying water droplets to suppress suspended dust particles.

He said the vehicle is equipped with jetting nozzles for various purposes – washing trees, watering and clearing blockages in small covered drains or culverts and pipe drains, etc. Speaking at the flagging off ceremony, Saxena said the capital would be able to fight the pollution war more effectively.

“The best part of this vehicle is that it has jets for spraying water. It also has an anti-clogging feature and can also clean the spit of paan on the pavement. I sincerely hope that this will be a great help in our war.” Will prove to be a milestone.” Against pollution,” he said.

Saxena said, “We are making efforts to reduce the air pollution level in Delhi and these multi-purpose vehicles will prove to be very helpful in this endeavour. More such efforts will be made in the coming times.” MCD Officer on Special Duty Ashwini Kumar, Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
