Man strangles colleague with data cable in Delhi, keeps body in fridge: Sources

Nikki was not aware of Sahil’s marriage which was fixed long back.

New Delhi:

The Delhi woman whose body was found in a fridge at a roadside restaurant on Tuesday was strangulated with a data cable by her live-in boyfriend, police sources said today.

Sahil Gehlot, 24, has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend and trying to cover it up in an incident similar to the Shraddha Walker murder case. He allegedly killed 23-year-old Nikki Yadav after an argument and decided to keep her body in a fridge at a dhaba owned by his family.

Sources said the car in which Nikki Yadav was allegedly killed has been seized. He has been sent to police custody for five days.

Sahil, a 24-year-old pharma graduate, had allegedly married another woman on the day of the murder.

When Nikki Yadav went missing, the police found Sahil. Nikki’s neighbor had made the missing report; His family in Jhajjar, Haryana did not know where he was.

Police said Nikki and Sahil met while preparing for the medical entrance exam and were in a live-in relationship for years. He did not know that Sahil was engaged to another woman.

His father Sunil Yadav has demanded death penalty for Sahil.

This incident is very similar to the Shraddha Walker murder case that took place in Delhi last year. Police had said that Shraddha was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla, who cut her body into several pieces and stored them in a 300-litre fridge and dumped them in the forest.
