The 26-year-old accused driver in the Delhi hit-and-run case has been arrested and the car has been confiscated.
Delhi Police on Monday arrested the accused Scorpio car driver, who rammed a biker after a heated argument with a biker group near Delhi’s Arjan Garh metro station on June 5.
The car of the 26-year-old accused driver has also been seized. ADCP South M Harsh Vardhan said that a case of attempt to murder has been registered in the case.
The accused SUV driver has been identified as Anuj Chaudhary, an LLB final year student in a private college. Chaudhary has been arrested by a team from Fatehpur Beri police station.
The accused allegedly tried to run over a bike rider in the national capital, an official said on Monday.
A video of a bike rider hitting a speeding SUV in the national capital went viral on social media, following which the Delhi Police took cognizance of the matter.
Giving details, Additional DCP (South) Harsh Vardhan said that a PCR call was received at 7.21 am. The accident was reported on Sunday.
“The Royal Enfield Classic 350 was found in a damaged condition on reaching the spot near Arjan Garh metro station. The injured person has been identified as Shreyansh (22), who has been taken to the hospital for treatment,” Vardhan said.
The officer said that the injured person did not give any statement at that time due to treatment and went home.
Following this, a video of the incident surfaced on social media, and the complainant was asked to record his statement at the earliest, Vardhan.
Shreyansh said that he had gone to a temple in Aravalli with his friends and was returning home on his motorcycles on Sunday morning. On the way he got into an argument with the driver of the Scorpio car over speeding/over speeding. Whom the Scorpio driver threatened with dire consequences.”
The Scorpio driver also had an argument with some other bikers which was caught on camera by a YouTuber who was part of a biking group. Meanwhile, Shreyansh crossed Scorpio and went ahead.
