PM Modi, who returned to Delhi after a three-day visit to France and the United Arab Emirates, took a detailed account of the flood situation in Delhi and inquired about the efforts being made in this regard.

In a tweet, Saxena said the Prime Minister directed that all possible work be done in the interest of the people of Delhi with the help and cooperation of the Centre. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi called as soon as he reached home and took a detailed account of the flood situation in Delhi and took complete information about the related efforts. He again directed to do everything possible in the interest of the people of Delhi with the help and cooperation of the Centre”, the LG tweeted.

Earlier, the Delhi government had said that the flood-like situation in the capital was expected to improve by Sunday as the water level in the river showed a receding trend.

Yamuna water may increase due to Saturday’s rain

However, after heavy rains lashed several areas of Delhi, it is predicted that this will lead to a rise in the water level in the Yamuna, which has been flowing above the danger mark of 205.33 meters for several days now.

According to the Central Water Commission, the water level in the river receded from its peak of 208.66 meters at 8 pm on Thursday to 207.62 meters by 7 am on Saturday. The water level of Yamuna was recorded at 206.14 meters at 6 am on Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that due to the rain, the maximum temperature in the city dropped by one degree to settle at 34.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature reached 27 degree Celsius. According to weather officials, the relative humidity ranged between 64 per cent and 92 per cent. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The Met Office has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain and thundershowers for Sunday.
