Delhi: Fire breaks out at Rohini hospital

Delhi Fire: A 64-year-old patient died early Saturday at a hospital in Delhi’s Rohini area after his oxygen support was disrupted due to a fire at the facility, officials said.

He said that the fire was probably caused by a short circuit, which took place on the third floor of Brahma Shakti Hospital, Pooth Khurd.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Pranav Tayal said that the information about the fire was received around 5 am, after which the local police reached the spot and called the fire brigade.

Delhi Fire Service (DFS) Director Atul Garg said that a total of nine fire tenders were sent to the spot to douse the fire. Garg said that the fire has been completely brought under control.

The DCP said that all were rescued except one patient, who was admitted to the ICU and was on ventilator support.

DCP Tayal said Holi, a kidney patient and a resident of Prem Nagar, was pulled out, but died due to disruption in the supply of electricity and oxygen.

He said that no operational fire fighting system was found and the fire exit door was found closed/blocked.

A case is being registered in this regard under sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or flammable substance), 287 (negligent conduct in relation to machinery), and 304A (negligent cause of death) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Is. The DCP of Vihar police station said.

On May 27, fires broke out at Safdarjung Hospital in south Delhi and Makkar Multispecialty Hospital in the eastern part of the city and there were no casualties.
