Delhi class 10, 12 students can go to school without consent letter

In another relaxation given due to the declining number of COVID-19 cases, the Delhi government is allowing class 10 and 12 students to appear for offline classes and examinations in school premises without consent letter from parents. This comes a month after the central government withdrew the Covid-era rule of having mandatory consent forms from parents to attend classes in person.

For class 9 and 11 students, hybrid classes will continue till March 31, which means attendance in physical classes will not be mandatory, and students choose the mode of their classes which can be online or offline. With vaccinations available for adolescents, there is a decline in Covid-19 cases in state after state allowing offline schooling.

“Schools may also deploy transport facilities for proper handling of COVID for the convenience of the students and parents,” the Delhi government said in an official notice. Parents complain that bus services have not been resumed so far completely. The schools alleged that they are unable to persuade the transporters to resume work before the Covid-19 charges and the parents are unwilling to pay the higher fee for the same service. Many schools have not resumed their contracts with transporters for fear of another wave of the pandemic.
