Delhi Capitals’ Prithvi Shaw fails Yo-Yo test, will play in IPL 2022: Report

new DelhiTeam India’s out-of-fav opener Prithvi Shaw has failed the Yo-Yo test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has made the yo-yo test mandatory for its centrally contracted players – injured or otherwise – ahead of the IPL. Shaw, who was retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, is not a centrally contracted player but he was at the NCA to provide an update on his fitness status.

For men, the BCCI has set 16.5 as the qualifying score in the yo-yo test. According to the report of PTI, Shaw has scored less than 15.

“These are just fitness updates. Obviously, that doesn’t stop Prithvi from playing for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. It’s just a fitness parameter and not everything,” the source said.

“Look, he has played three Ranji matches in a row. Once you play three first-class matches on the bounce, fatigue can affect your yo-yo score as well,” he said.

Hardik Pandya passed Yo-Yo Test, Bowling and NCA

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been away from the national team due to fitness issues, has passed the Yo-Yo test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The fit again Pandya is all set to lead the new IPL team Gujarat Titans IPL 2022, Pandya’s performance during the two days at the NCA is also a good sign for Indian cricket.

Pandya apparently “emphasized” it to show that he is on track to make a comeback in the national team.

“He was not required to bowl at the NCA, but he bowled for a long time and at 135 kmph. On the second day, he crossed the yo-yo test with a 17-plus score, which is a lot. cut-off level,” a BCCI source told PTI.
