Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal targets BCCI selectors in India’s 2021 T20 World Cup squad

Indian Premier League co-owner Parth Jindal (IPLClub Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday questioned the selection of Team India for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Earlier this month, the control board for Cricket In India (BCCI) selected a 15-man squad for WC and some selections raised eyebrows. The biggest boycott in India’s squad was senior opener Shikhar Dhawan, who captained the Men in Blue in their recent limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka.

He is also the second leading run-getter in the 14th edition of the IPL, with 430 runs in ten matches at an impressive average of 47.77 and a healthy strike rate of 131.09.

Another player to be dropped from Delhi’s IPL team was their former captain Shreyas Iyer.

“The selectors must be wondering why they took some of their decisions – we don’t have some of the best batsmen in our T20 World Cup squad – any guesses who?” he asked on Twitter. He also tagged the official Twitter handles of BCCI and Delhi Capitals in the post.

Another big name remembered was Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been a mainstay in the Indian team over the last four years. Mumbai Indians’ Rahul Chahar was preferred over Chahal for the World Cup despite his lack of experience on the international stage.

Jindal wrote in a later tweet, “India’s best spinner in T20 is also missing.” Even though he did not mention Chahal in his tweet, he tagged the official Twitter handle of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the post.

India’s 15-man squad for T20 World Cup: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy.

India will begin their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on October 24.
