Delhi BJP spokesperson sexually assaulted, defamatory video posted online

New Delhi: Police said an FIR has been registered against unidentified persons for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman spokesperson of Delhi BJP.

The matter came to light after a complaint was made by the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party that the video, along with false information, was posted electronically against the spokesperson for insulting his modesty, he said.

The complaint also mentioned that “it was intended to damage the reputation of the spokesperson by putting the name of the spokesperson in the link of the video and defaming him publicly.”

An FIR was registered at Cyber ​​Police Station in New Delhi district under sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (insulting a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and 67 (transmitting obscene material electronically) of the IT Act. The police officer said that the investigation has been started in the matter.

According to the allegations in the complaint, objectionable sexual remarks were made about the spokesperson, which had nothing to do with the content of the link, in order to hurt her reputation.

It has also been alleged that for the past two-three months, a group of people have been harassing women spokespersons of the BJP, and the party requested action against the perpetrators, the police said.
