Delhi Assembly panel summons Kangana Ranaut over Instagram post against Sikh community

New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly’s Peace and Harmony Committee has summoned actress Kangana Ranaut for making derogatory remarks on the Sikh community. Ranaut has been asked to appear before the committee before December 6. Delhi MLA and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Raghav Chadha is the chairman of the committee.

aAfter the Prime Minister announced the repeal of agricultural laws, Ranaut called India a “jihadi nation” on his Instagram and reportedly called for dictatorship in India.

Without naming anyone, Ranaut reportedly called Sikhs “Khalistani” and said that a woman PM (Indira Gandhi) crushed them under his feet.

“Khalistani terrorists can twirl the government today…but don’t forget one woman…the only female PM who crushed these under his shoes (the only female PM who crushed them under his shoes), ranaut wrote on his Instagram story.

“The committee has received a number of complaints regarding abusive and derogatory Instagram stories/posts allegedly published by Ms Kangana Ranaut on her official Instagram account @kanganaranaut. According to the complainants, the stories published by Ms. Kangana Ranaut on her Instagram account, which has a wide reach and is followed by around 8 million people across the world, specifically depicted examples of religious sentiments of the Sikh community. hurt and have a tendency to disturb the peace and harmony of the society,” said a statement issued by the committee.

Ranaut was recently awarded the Padma Shri. Following his comments, a delegation led by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee chairman Manjinder Singh Sirsa met the Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Police, West Zone, to discuss legal action against him.

“We have registered an FIR against Kangana Ranaut at Khar police station. We demand legal action against him for his remarks that spread communal hatred for farmers and Sikhs. We will also meet the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai and Maharashtra Home Minister to ensure action,” tweeted Sirsa.

He demanded that Kangana “be arrested for spewing venom against farmers and the Sikh community.”

Sirsa had on Saturday filed a complaint against Ranaut for his “hateful” comments and demanded that his Padma Shri be taken back.

After filing the complaint, Sirsa wrote on her Twitter, “The day is not far when she will be behind bars for abusing the freedom of expression.”
