A shocking video of a girl left on a terrace with her arms and legs tied in the scorching sun in Delhi went viral on social media on Wednesday, prompting the police to take cognizance of the matter.
In the video, the minor girl can be seen crying incessantly in the scorching sun.
“Earlier it was said that the video was shot in Karawal Nagar area. However, during interrogation it was found that no such incident took place from there,” a police officer said.
On further enquiry, the police came to know that the address comes under Khajuri Khas police station area, but no such incident was reported there too.
“The address was incomplete, so special teams were sent on the ground to verify it. After many efforts, the address and the family were traced,” the official said.
It was learned that the girl’s mother had tied her to the roof as a punishment for not doing her homework.
Reports said that the minor is a class 1 student and lives with her parents in Tukhmirpur, Karawal Nagar, Delhi.
Under this, the police have registered an FIR under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act at Khajuri Khas police station.
Further investigation is on, the official said.
