Deeply Routed Dance Theater celebrates 25th anniversary with live performances

CHICAGO (WLS) — Deeply Routed Dance Theater continues its 25th anniversary season with live in-person performances.

“A Deeply Rooted Evening for Chicago Healing,” with music from Grammy-winning Donald Lawrence, singer L’Andrea Johnson, Tri-City Singers, and Zeke Locke & the NuExperience, preview of gospel dance-theater work “Goshen,” August Returns 25 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Millennium Park, 201 E. J in Randolph Street. In the Pritzker Pavilion.

“Goshen,” a tale of escape, is a festive collaboration of gospel music, dramatic narrative, and dance-theatre rooted in African-American traditions. The work explores historical biblical themes of power, oppression, and salvation in a joyous contemporary setting, reflecting the soul’s journey through human experience, introspection, and hope.

General admission is free; A $25 (or more) Contribution Provides access to premium bowl seating; Contributions of $150-$1,000 (or more) include premium bowl seating and post-performance reception.
