Recently, while talking to Bollywood Hungama, Deepak Tijori said that he was rejected during the initial audition.

The 1992 film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar has become a cult classic today. Directed by Mansoor Khan, it was a perfect blend of a sports drama along with a coming-of-age drama. In fact, it revolutionized the coming-of-age genre, which was not so well explored Bollywood Earlier The evergreen song Pehla Nasha made the film more memorable. Deepak Tijori played the antagonist in the film starring Aamir Khan and Ayesha Jhulka.

The film, which revolved around an inter-college cycle race, starred Deepak Tijori as Shekhar Malhotra, a fierce competitor of Aamir Khan’s character.

However, very few people know that Deepak Tijori got the role only after a failed audition. Recently speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Deepak Tijori said that he was rejected during the initial auditions and the then unknown Milind Soman was selected for the role. Milind’s athletic build was perfect for the role of a sportsman and according to Deepak, Milind also shot 75 per cent of the film.

However, differences broke out between Milind and the rest of the crew. Deepak said that he heard that Milind, the strict disciplinarian on the sets of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, was not getting his breakfast on time, so he left the film midway. That’s when Deepak was called back and the actor credited Aamir Khan for getting him back on the project. However, Deepak says that he is still not sure about what went wrong between Milind and the production team of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.

The actor claimed in the same interview that he stopped appearing in films from the year 2000 onwards as the film industry had a tendency to bracket actors. He named Arshad Warsi as a perfect example who, according to him, is a brilliant actor but does not get enough roles as the industry restricts him to a predetermined bracket.

After his acting career faded, Deepak Tijori tried his luck in producing and directing films such as Oops, Fareb and Tom, Dick and Harry.
