Coming into the match, England won a series-winning three-wicket haul over Pakistan in the third and final T20 International at Old Trafford after a 36-ball 64 by Jason Roy and four wickets by Adil Rashid.

England registered a 3-0 win over visitors in One Day Internationals on Tuesday night with a 2-1 series win. The Pakistan team will now travel to the Caribbean for limited overs and Test tours.

Chasing a target of 155 for victory, England’s Chris Jordan scored the winning run with just two balls to spare.

England won the series with a win at Headingley on 18 July, setting up a winner-all-encounter in Manchester in the final match of Pakistan’s limited-overs tour.

Captain Eoin Morgan thanked his spinners and opener Jason Roy for the win, with Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali as the bowlers.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat but the tourists’ run flow was disrupted as England spinners came into the attack.

Rashid dismissed skipper Babar Azam for 11 off his second ball, leaving Pakistan 42/1 in the final over of the powerplay. And the leg-spinner took two more wickets in his second over, taking both Sohaib Maqsood (13) and Mohammad Hafeez (1).

The 33-year-old finished with career-best T20I figures of 4/35 in his four overs. Moeen too bowled a nearly flawless delivery for just 19 runs in his four overs as Pakistan failed to hit the 34-year-old off-spinner for a single boundary.

In the end, it was Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan who did a great job of scoring and scored an unbeaten 76 off 57 balls, guiding the team to 154/6 in 20 overs.

It looked like an easy run chase for England as Roy smashed 64 off 36 balls to put the home team ahead of the run-rate.

But some poor batting from fellow openers Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow put pressure on the hosts. Captain Morgan put England on the verge of victory with the help of two sixes in a fast innings of 21 runs.

The series win ensures that England remain on top of the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, while Pakistan remain at the fourth position.

Brief Scores: Pakistan 154/6 in 20 overs (MD Rizwan 76; A Rashid 4/35) lost to England 155/7 in 19.4 overs (Jason Roy 64, D Malan 31; Mohammad Hafeez 3/28) by 3 wickets.
