Debt-ridden businessman shot himself in Haibowal’s house. Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: The owner of an auto spare parts shop shot himself with his licensed revolver in Durgapuri, Haibowal on Monday morning. Forty-year-old Neeraj Kataria’s wife Jyoti and two sons had gone to Rajasthan on Sunday night. Her elderly parents were at home at the time of the incident.
On receiving the information, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sameer Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) Gurpreet Singh and Haibowal Police reached the spot.
Verma said, ‘Neeraj fired two bullets on his chest with a 32 bore licensed revolver and he died on the spot. He stepped on the first floor of his house. Her elderly parents were on the ground floor when they heard a noise and thought something had fallen. When they went upstairs, Neeraj’s room was locked from inside. As there was no response to his repeated knocks, he called up his younger son who had gone out for work.”
When their second son came home, he broke open the door and found Neeraj covered in blood. After this the family called the police. Police have recovered a suicide note from the spot in which Neeraj has accused Rajan Jain of Karol Bagh and Harish Sabharwal of 33 Feet Road of harassing her and forcing her to take extreme steps.
In the note, Neerja has also apologized to her family and said that the moneylenders should not disturb her brother.
Verma said, “Rajan and Harish were harassing Neeraj to return the money. So he committed suicide.”
Haibowal police have registered a case against Rajan and Harish under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide).
Neeraj’s wife and children have left for the city from Rajasthan. They had gone to a religious place there along with local residents in a bus.
