UP CM Yogi Adityanath tweeted the news of the veteran leader’s death. The state cabinet is meeting on Saturday night to condole the death of Singh.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh passed away on Saturday in Lucknow due to sepsis and multi-organ failure. He was 89 years old.

Kalyan Singh was admitted to the ICU of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on July 4 in a critical condition.

His health deteriorated on Saturday due to kidney infection. He breathed his last at 9.15 pm.

Singh’s body was brought to his Mall Avenue residence where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues paid tributes to the departed soul.

Earlier, Adityanath had tweeted about the death of the veteran leader. The state cabinet is meeting on Saturday night to condole the death of Singh.

A three-day state mourning has been declared in Uttar Pradesh and a holiday will be observed on August 23 (Monday) in honor of the late leader.

Deputy Chief Ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Maurya expressed grief over Singh’s death, while senior leaders across the political spectrum termed his death as a loss to Indian politics.

Mahant Narendra Giri, head of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, said that Indian politics has lost one of its greatest leaders.
