Dead for 4 days, mutilated body of woman found in sack in Noida apartment, ‘lover nephew’ missing

Police on Saturday night recovered the mutilated body of a 21-year-old woman in a sack at a house in Sector Gamma 1 of Greater Noida.

SHO of Beta-2 police station Anil Kumar said that around 10 pm on Saturday night, the landlord informed the police about foul smell coming from the third floor. He said the flat was locked for a few days before the police arrived and opened it. The police searched a tied sack in the drawing room of the 2BHK flat and found a mutilated body inside. The body has been sent for postmortem. “The autopsy report will reveal how he died,” he said.

Police told TOI that as per preliminary investigation, the woman was living with Ashish Ranjan, whom she introduced as her cousin to the owner of the house.

Ranjan studies B-Tech in a private college in Greater Noida. As of now, we know that she was his aunt (‘aunty’), the police said, adding that they may be in a relationship, but the police were in talks with the family to know more. “Ranjan has fled,” the SHO said.

A case has been registered against Ranjan at Beta-2 police station under section 302 (punishment for murder) of IPC. The police is checking the CCTV footage of the surroundings.

Police said the couple had rented the house ten months ago and that some visitors had come, and that the woman appears to have died three to four days ago. According to officials, the couple had fought over their relationship before the man killed the woman.
