Mysore: Mysore Deputy Director of Pre-University Education (ddpu) issued a circular asking teaching and non-teaching PU employees not to wear jeans and t-shirts while on duty, and withdrew it within hours on Saturday after the employees protested.

Cleanliness in DC Office
As per Murthy’s circular, the directive is applicable to employees of government, aided, private PU colleges and DDPU office. It said that the DC has verbally instructed them to ban the staff members from wearing jeans and t-shirts and the DC will visit the colleges to check the same. The district administration said that the DC did not issue instructions.

“Within minutes after the circular was issued, teachers and non-teaching members protested. Last week, a DDPU employee went to the district administration office without a shirt. This stirred the officers. He asked DDPU to ensure discipline among its employees. This may lead to a controversial order,” said a lecturer at PU College.
“It is not clear why DDPU released it. The district administration has reprimanded him,” said the lecturer.
