A major train accident was averted when the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express was passing through the Santhaldih railway crossing on Tuesday evening after a tractor crashed into a railway gate near Bhojudih station in Jharkhand’s Bokaro due to the presence of mind of the train driver. According to reports, the tractor got stuck between the railway track and the gate. The incident took place around 5 pm when the train was already running late by about 45 minutes.

DRM Manish Kumar said, “A tractor met with an accident during the closure of the railway gate at Santhaldih railway crossing of Bhojudih station in Bokaro district. However, the driver of the train applied brakes and the train stopped.” Adra Division, South Eastern Railway.

The tractor has been seized and an FIR has been registered at the concerned police station, while the gate man has been suspended, he said. The driver of the tractor fled from the spot.
