Day 9 of the Russo-Ukraine War: Russia strikes the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant

Russian forces continue to attack major Ukrainian cities amid fears of a serious humanitarian crisis among civilians. Even as world leaders ask Moscow to come to the negotiating table, Russian missiles continue to hit Ukraine. On Thursday night, Europe’s largest Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was set ablaze after attacks.

United States President Joe Biden has a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the fire at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.

Ukraine’s emergency services said they had extinguished a fire at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant. Kyiv attributed the fire to Russian military shelling. “At 06:20, the fire in the training building of the Zaporizhzhia NPP in Energodar was extinguished. There are no victims.”
