‘Daughter Of Assam’: Himanta Sarma Backs Angkita Dutta Amid Harrasment Row

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday commented on former Assam Indian Youth Congress chief Angkita Dutta’s allegation by National Youth Congress President Srinivas Biwi calling Dutta the ‘daughter of Assam’, Sarma said the way the state The way Congress has dealt with this matter is sad. News agency ANI quoted the Assam CM as saying, “They (Assam Congress) are thinking that he has given a wrong statement and the IYC president is right. I will be happy if the Assam Congress talks in his favor. But what we see is He’s the complete opposite.” Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Angkita Dutta recorded her statement in the matter before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Guwahati today.

Describing the issue as an internal matter of the Congress, Himanta said, “It is a matter of the Congress and if they resolve the issue then there will be no need for the involvement of the CID or the police. If the issue is not resolved, the law will apply.” You have to take your course.”

Dutta has alleged that he was harassed and mentally tortured by Srinivas on more than one occasion. She also claimed that Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders were made aware of her harassment. However, no action was taken against the Youth Congress President.

Assam Congress chief Bhupen Bora issued show cause notice

Earlier on Thursday, Assam unit Congress president Bhupen Bora issued a show-cause notice to state IYC chief Angkita Dutta for publicly leveling harassment allegations against National Youth Congress president Srinivas Beevi, meanwhile, Bora said Dutta Never informed them about the harassment.

In a letter to Angkita Dutta, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief wrote: “I was not aware of the alleged complaints and was never apprised of the same by you. Therefore, I have written to you on the same day to discuss the matter.” I have ensured that if you have any issue, it can be resolved at the highest level without any public controversy as it is an internal matter of the party.”

Bora also said that she had requested Dutta not to make any statement in the media as there is a mechanism within the party for any complaint, to which she agreed. “But you (Angkita Dutta) have decided to go ahead with the public confrontation instead of focusing on party discipline, despite my assurance to resolve the matter,” he said.

According to Bora, Dutta has not given any oral or written complaint about his allegations to the Congress general secretary in-charge of Assam. “Such a stand is against the discipline of the party,” Bora said. Angkita Dutta has been asked to show cause within 24 hours as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against her.

On the other hand, on Wednesday at Dispur police station, Angkita Dutta filed a complaint against Srinivas BV alleging verbal and physical abuse as well as using profanity in the past six months.
