Filmmakers have sought to register titles like D-Gang, Pattanagere Shed, and Khaidi No 6106.

Filmmakers have approached the film chamber to register titles for a movie based on the Renukaswamy murder case, involving Kannada actor Darshan. However, as per reports, these titles have been turned down as the case is still ongoing.

As per a Times of India report, filmmakers have sought to register titles like D-Gang, Pattanagere Shed, and Khaidi No 6106. D-Gang refers to Darshan’s title D-Boss and Pattanagere Shed where the murder allegedly took place. Khaidi No 6106 is the under-trial prisoner number assigned to Darshan in Parappana Agrahara Prison. However, the report mentioned that the film chamber has turned down these requests.

Filmmaker Rocky Somli, who sought to register ‘D-Gang’ was quoted in the report as saying, “We had zeroed in on this title 2 years ago, and I even have a song composed on similar lines. All this was done way before Darshan was arrested. In fact, it has nothing to do with the ongoing case. After Darshan’s arrest, I saw many news channels running programmes with similar titles, and that is when it struck us to register the title before anybody else does. But the film chamber has refused to approve it. We hope we get the title because it was planned 2 years ago and we have enough proof to show that.”

For the unversed, Darshan is being probed in connection to the Renuka Swamy murder case. Swamy was found dead in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He used to reportedly work at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. It has been alleged that Renuka used to send vulgar messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowad, a friend of Darshan. Angry about this, Renuka Swamy was murdered and his dead body was allegedly thrown in a canal at Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru in front of Darshan. Reportedly, eight of the accused have implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during Renuka Swamy’s assault. The Kannada actor was arrested on June 11.

Meanwhile, Darshan Thoogudeepa’s wife, Vijayalakshmi issued her first statement ever since his arrest in the Renuka Swamy murder case. On Wednesday, Vijayalakshmi shared a fan art on her Instagram handle which featured Darshan’s fans forming a human chain to reach a hilltop where a flag reads ‘D Boss’. Vijayalakshmi penned down a long note as she hoped for justice.

Vijayalakshmi talked about her meeting with Darshan in jail recently and claimed that he has asked his fans to stay calm. “Call for all our Celebrities – You all know how much Darshan loves you. It is sad that we are in this situation today and that we have to stay at a distance from him. I have spoken to him in detail about the situation outside and it has touched his heart. He has urged all his celebrities to stay calm and focus on doing good deeds and he is sure that he will be part of your prayers,” Vijayalakshmi wrote in Kannada as quoted by Hindustan Times.
