Daily Covid cases and recoveries rise, nine more dead in Pune | Pune News – Times of India

Pune: The number of patients recovering from Kovid-19 in the country has increased to 1,555. Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Wednesday, surpassed its new infections (1,533) for the day.
For the past two days, the region had recorded three-digit daily cases and recoveries each. The field sample testing also increased to 22,675 on Wednesday from 15,564 on Tuesday.
Among the samples tested, over 9,800 samples were tested in rural areas, followed by 7,026 in Pune municipal limits and 5,823 in Pimpri Chinchwad municipal areas.
In the last 24 hours, cases in PMC areas rose to 432, while PCMC and rural parts reported 320 and 781 new infections respectively. Fewer recoveries than new cases were recorded in PMC areas. On Wednesday, 271 patients were discharged in PMC limits.
The area’s total positive caseload rose above 10.59 lakh till Wednesday evening, while its tally of recoveries reached 10.31 lakh. The region’s active caseload remained above 10,000 on Wednesday as well. A report released by District Health Officer Bhagwan Pawar said that till Wednesday evening PMC, PCMC, rural and cantonment areas collectively recorded 10,122 active patients.
The report further said that the deaths in the region fell in single digits on Wednesday.
Nine patients succumbed to the infection in PMR, including six deaths recorded in PMC limits, two deaths in PCMC areas and one in rural areas.
