Cycle: Cycle Campaign Against Pesticides | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: Environmental protection group Thanal Trust is organizing a one-day event Bicycle Campaigning against chemical pesticides on 20th March. The objective of this campaign is to create awareness about the harmful effects of chemical pesticides in the society and to promote organic farming, especially among children and youth.
The campaign named “Pedal Against Poison-2022” is being implemented in collaboration with Indus Cycle Embassy (ICE). Pesticide Action Network India And WIWA ,broad inspiration and broad aspiration).
The cycle rally led by Indus Cycle Embassy will be flagged off from Kanakkunnu Palace on March 20 at 6 am. The cycling team will visit organic farms in Thiruvananthapuram. The opening ceremony of the campaign will be held on the same day State Central Library 5.00 pm. Artists, social activists, farmers and environmentalists will participate in the event. A folk art play ‘Polivattam’ envisioned by the WIWA team will also be performed at the event.
To attract youth to the campaign, the organization organized several programs on Sundays at the Napier Museum. Around 120 youths participated in practice sessions and fun competitions like city-based treasure hunt and drawing competition. The organization also provided the facility of spot registration. Cash prizes of Rs 4,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 were presented to the winners. In the exercise session, the cycle rally led by Thanal volunteers was told.
