Cyberabad Police resumed investigation of drunken drivers, registered a case against 126 drivers. Hyderabad News – Times of India

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic police has completely restarted drunk driving (DD) investigates after a gap of three months keeping in view the increasing number of road accidents caused by drunken drivers and 126 cases were registered on Saturday night.

Cyberabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic, Vijay Kumar said, “It has been observed that many people are resorting to driving under the influence of alcohol without caring about the safety of themselves and other innocent road users.”

Traffic police have given some such examples in which educated people were involved in the offense of driving under the influence of alcohol. On June 27, an Audi car driven by a drunk student rammed an auto rickshaw near Inorbit Mall, killing a passenger.
In a similar incident, on the same day in Premavatipet of Rajendranagar police station area, a drunken youth drove Innova at high speed and the vehicle rammed into the platform in front of a house. The woman sitting on the platform suffered a serious injury to her leg.
In another incident, a biker was killed and another was injured when a bike rider collided with a milk van at Botanical Garden in Kothaguda on Friday. The victims were not wearing helmets. An intoxicated auto driver died in an accident in Dundigal on Friday.
In 2021, Cyberabad Police has so far registered 20,326 DD cases and the driving licenses of criminals have been sent to RTA for disqualification as per Section 206 R/W 19 of the MV Act. Most of the cases were reported in Gachibowli, Madhapur, Alwal, Kukatpally and Rajendranagar areas.
A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 (II) of the IPC was being registered against persons who committed a fatal accident under the influence of alcohol and those who knowingly allowed or accompanied those who were driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also being prosecuted for abetting the crime. Cyberabad Police said that the institutions and organizations they work for are also being informed about the incident and urged their employees to impart road safety education.
