Curzon gang rape and murder: Alpesh Thakor meets woman’s family, demands fast track trial

Two days after the Vadodara district police arrested six persons for the alleged gang rape and murder of a 37-year-old woman in Karjan taluka, the former MLA and currently a BJP Leader Alpesh Thakor met the victim’s family on Friday and demanded a fast track trial in the case, while also slamming local BJP leaders, including MLA Akshay Patel, for ignoring the victim’s family. Meanwhile, a local court sent the six accused to five-day police custody.

Thakor, who visited the victim’s house on Friday in a village in Karjan taluka, said the accused not only raped and killed a “Gujarat woman”, but also “ruined a happy family”. The victim, a mother of three children, was a farm labourer. The accused had stopped her in the field on Monday when she was cutting grass alone and took turns to rape her before strangling her to death with his own dupatta.

Expressing dismay at the lack of outrage over the incident, which is “similar to Delhi’s Nirbhaya case”, Thakor attacked his fellow BJP leaders and said, “It is an attempt to tarnish the pride of Gujarat. Fast on the accused.” He should be tried in track court and he should be given death sentence. I will run a campaign in Gujarat for this in near future. Very worrying thing is that this is state’s own Nirbhaya case. It is a very big crime but a one. Even the political leader has not talked about it or visited this family.”

Thakor took a dig at local BJP leaders, especially MLA Patel, who lives just “five kilometers away”, and said, “It is unfortunate that people have expectations of justice from this government, but not a single leader has been fulfilled.” Family. The MLA of this area (Akshay Patel of BJP) has his office just five kilometers away but he doesn’t have time to meet this poor family. So, when do our leaders visit these places? Do they just come to seek votes? Are you? Will you forgive them when something like this happens to the daughter of your house? At least, I can’t play this kind of abandoned politics where mothers and sisters are raped and cold-blooded by politicians keep quiet.”

Thakor also attacked the Vijay Rupani-led government, questioning the ministers’ silence. Thakor said, ‘I immediately demand that a comment should come from the government for this family. Raksha Bandhan is approaching in few days, where sisters tie Rakhi to their brothers to promise protection and protection. In such a situation, the state government should take this matter to the fast track court so that the culprits of this sister can be brought to justice. If you can’t do that then I have to admit that you (government) lack sensitivity. The government has to take steps to ensure that no other woman in the state goes through this.

The Vadodara district police on Friday also produced the six accused in a local court in Curzon. The court has given five days police remand to the accused in the case. According to officials, investigators are probing whether the group of accused has committed such a crime in the past as they have “almost unintentionally committed such a heinous crime, including murder on a hunt for a victim”.

Police on Wednesday traced the accused with the help of a sniffer dog, Jawa, which prompted investigators to settle the strays near the railway track near the crime scene.
