From this year, candidates seeking admission to undergraduate courses offered by various central universities will now have to compulsorily appear for a common entrance test – CUCET. Ever since the announcement of CUET, many questions and criticisms have been raised from teachers, students and even politicians.

Now, many students are claiming that due to CUET they will find it difficult to apply for courses other than subjects in their class 12. Students claim that they will not be able to choose subjects beyond what they studied in class 12th. So may force them to pursue degree programs they are not interested in.

Raising these issues, many students have also taken to social media platforms. As the CUET notification claims that “Candidates can appear in CUET only in those subjects in which they have passed their class.” Students claim that due to this, many people will be denied the opportunity to apply for other courses for their bachelor’s degree.

Highlighting the issue, a large section of students took to Twitter to urge the authorities to change the rules. A student claims that due to this rule, a student studying Science or Maths cannot apply for other courses like Humanities in DU or for other courses in other colleges.

Many students are asking for domain option from the authorities.

The registration process for CUET is open and candidates can send their applications for CUCET 2022 online at cuet.samarth.ac.in by May 6. The entrance exam is likely to be conducted by the National Testing Agency in the first week of July. NTA).
