Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant didn’t mince words in saying that his team was completely outplayed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. On Sunday, May 8, CSK defeated the Capitals by 91 runs and moved to the 8th spot in the points table.

After being asked to chase down 209, DC huffed and puffed and were bowled out for 117 in 17.4 overs. The left-handed Pant, who scored 21 off 11 before getting out to off-spinner Moeen Ali, said that his team needs to up their game in order to qualify for the playoffs.

The 24-year-old Pant also admitted that issues surrounding COVID-19 in the DC camp didn’t help them by any stretch of the imagination.

POSITIVE AND PROACTIVE

“They outplayed us in all the departments. I felt this was coming. The only thing we look forward is the next three games. If we win them, we should qualify. There are flus and Covid cases, a lot going on but we are not using that as excuses. The only thing we can do is be more positive and proactive, we need to be in a good frame of mind and make good decisions,” Pant said after the match.

After the loss, DC kept struggling in the middle of the points table with 10 points and a net run rate of 0.150. Pant and Co are currently locked on points with Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who are on a four-match losing streak, and Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The Capitals are next set to lock horns with the Sunrisers on Wednesday, May 11 at the same venue.
