Crowds, flower petals, PM Modi’s welcome in Gujarat as roadshow for second consecutive day

Visiting Gujarat Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a roadshow in Gandhinagar, his second such program in two days in the state. The road show was organized between the National Defense University (RRU) in Dehgam town and Lavad village in Gandhinagar district, in which Modi greeted a large number of people standing on either side of the road. Before the roadshow, Modi had left the Raj Bhavan here in a car and shifted to an open jeep as soon as he reached Dehgam. He was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in an open jeep. People gathered to greet the Prime Minister on the 12 km route of the road show.

He welcomed them with wreaths and flower petals. The road show ended as soon as the vehicle reached RRU. This is Modi’s second roadshow in his home state for the second consecutive day. On Friday, he did a road show from Ahmedabad airport to Kamalam, the BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar.

These road shows are being seen as part of Modi’s campaign campaign for the Gujarat assembly elections due in December. Modi, who begins his two-day visit to Gujarat on Friday, will address the first convocation of RRU. In the evening he will inaugurate Khel Mahakumbh, a sports event.

Modi’s visit to his home state comes a day after the BJP’s resounding victory in assembly elections in four states, including Uttar Pradesh. Assembly elections in Gujarat are to be held in December. The BJP is facing the challenge of retaining power in the state.
