A crocodile’s unexpected appearance in a hut in Uttar Pradesh’s Majra Hajur Purva village left residents in shock and fear. The incident occurred in the Gram Panchayat Karsaur area of Lakhimpur Kheri district, where the reptile was found resting in the hut of a local. Local authorities were promptly alerted by the villagers. A video of the crocodile, which was approximately three metres long, was recorded by a villager and has since gone viral on social media.

According to Sharda Prasad, the local resident, the crocodile likely entered the village after recent flooding in the Sharda River, which led it to the village pond. He noted that the crocodile had previously attacked local dogs, heightening the villagers’ anxiety.

Upon discovering the crocodile, the villagers were alarmed and began making noise, which prompted the crocodile to retreat into the nearby pond. Prasad, who keeps his buffalo and other animals in the hut, expressed concern over the safety of his livestock.

The crocodile’s presence in the hut is believed to be linked to the smell of cow and buffalo dung, which attracted it to the area. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. The forest department is expected to address the situation and ensure the safety of the villagers and their animals.
