Credible cases of CM Channi stubble burning and farmers’ protest will be canceled

New Delhi: Ahead of the assembly elections in 2022, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that all cases registered against farmers in connection with stubble burning and agitation against three agriculture laws of the Center would be quashed.

He chaired a high-level meeting with representatives of 32 farm unions under the leadership of BKU Balbir Singh Rajewal, president of United Kisan Morcha (SKM) at Punjab Bhawan on Wednesday, reported ANI.

During the meeting, Channi said, “We want no farmer to burn stubble, we will be strict. But till now the cases registered regarding stubble burning are being quashed. I request them not to burn stubble.” , it causes pollution. All the cases registered regarding farmers’ protests are being quashed.

The Chief Minister has also announced to increase the compensation amount from Rs 12,000 to Rs 17,000 per acre besides giving 10 per cent relief to the agricultural laborers involved in harvesting cotton who have suffered heavy losses due to the attack of pink bollworm pest on the cotton crop. ,

In a series of announcements, the Chief Minister said that 5.63 lakh farmers have already been benefitted by the Rs 4610.84 crore loan waiver scheme.

Punjab elections

With Punjab assembly elections just months away, the ruling Congress party, which is facing struggles within itself, has now said that the option of forming an alliance in the state is open to a like-minded party. However, the Congress has not talked about any particular party so far.

Congress’s Punjab in-charge Harish Chaudhary talked about forming an alliance in the elections without naming any particular party. Harish Chaudhary said, “There is no talk of alliance at this time.” However, Harish Chaudhary indicated that the option of alliance is open.

“The party can consider like-minded parties, which have a vision to take Punjab and Punjabiyat forward,” he said.

Despite Charanjit Singh Channi being the CM, the face of the next CM of Congress is not decided. When asked about the chief minister’s face in the election, Choudhary refrained from answering saying that for him every person in Punjab is the chief minister’s face. Harish Chaudhary tried to avoid giving a clear answer in view of the altercation between Sidhu and Charanjit Channi.
