New Delhi: Coronavirus cases in both Delhi and Mumbai continued to decline as the cities recorded 5,760 and 1,857 new infections respectively on Monday.
The national capital reported 5,760 new COVID cases and 30 deaths on Monday, while the positivity rate fell to 11.79 per cent
Delhi had reported 9,197 COVID cases and 34 deaths on Sunday, with a positivity rate of 13.32 per cent.
The number of daily cases in the national capital has been declining after touching a record high of 28,867 on January 13. In 10 days, the cases have come down below the 10,000 mark.
Delhi on Saturday recorded 45 deaths due to coronavirus, the highest since June 5, along with 11,486 cases with a positivity rate of 16.36 per cent.
On Friday, the city recorded 10,756 cases with a positivity rate of 18.04 per cent and 38 deaths.
So far in January, 543 people have died of COVID in the national capital.
Meanwhile, 1,4836 cured patients were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cured patients to 1,72,6681.

Mumbai’s recovery rate is 96 percent
On Monday, 1,857 new cases of corona virus were reported in Mumbai, taking the number of infected to 10,36,690. The death toll rose to 16,546 after 11 more patients died of the infection.
Of the 1,857 new patients, 84 per cent or 1,560 are asymptomatic, a statement from the health department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. At the same time, 234 more patients are hospitalized, out of which 56 are on oxygen support.
A total of 503 patients were discharged in the financial capital on Sunday, taking the number of recoveries to 9,96,289.
There are currently 21,142 active cases in Mumbai.
Mumbai’s recovery rate remains 96 percent. The case doubling rate is 144 days.
