In another significant one-day spike amid the ongoing resurgence, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday announced that India recorded 37,479 new COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period, taking the total active infections to 1,71,830. .
According to the ministry, the active caseload now accounts for 0.49 per cent of the total positive cases in the country.
