“We are currently reviewing which vaccines already have EUA (emergency use authorization) for young people. What we have seen is that we have two on our list; three for people aged 17 to Sinovac and Pfizer for people aged 12-17 years old,” Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said in a virtual press conference on Friday.

China has approved the emergency use of its Sinovac vaccine for children under the age of three, while the US has given a green signal to the Pfizer jab for children under the age of 12, Xinhua news agency reports. is.

Sadikin said the health ministry is conducting a study on children’s immunizations, which will be released soon, and also continues to monitor developments and data related to the effectiveness and side effects of vaccines given to children. country.

“We can issue a comprehensive decision based on the data we have, policy data in other countries and health scientific data on the EUA that has been given to vaccine companies,” Sadikin said.

Under its plan, the Southeast Asian country is currently working to vaccinate a targeted 181.5 million people over the age of 18, about 70 percent of its total population, by March 2022.

According to the World Health Organization, Indonesia has so far given 36,581,555 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
