Covid concerns force Silambarasan to postpone Manadu’s success meeting

The sudden rise in the number of cases of the Omicron version of the Covid-19 virus in the country has forced actor Silambarasan to postpone a successful meeting he had planned to hold for fans. Silambarasan, fondly known as Simbu, had planned to celebrate the success of his latest film ‘Manadu’ with fans on January 6. However, with the number of people infected with the Omicron variant rising rapidly in the country, the meeting has now been postponed.

A statement from their fans club said that the meeting is being postponed keeping in mind the welfare of the fans attending the meeting.

“The date of the breakthrough meeting will be officially announced later,” the statement issued in Tamil said.

Meanwhile, director SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited period action film RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) has been postponed once again amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country and concerns over the new Omicron version.

The film, starring South stars Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr., was scheduled to hit the theaters on January 7. Produced by DVV Entertainment, the news of the delay in RRR comes just six days before its release in theatres. The decision to postpone the release date was announced on the official Twitter account of the film “RRR”.

“Keeping in mind the best interests of all the parties involved, we are compelled to postpone our film. Our thanks to all the fans & viewers for their unconditional love #RRRPPostopened #RRRMovie,” the tweet read.

The makers said they were “forced” not to release the film as theaters are closed in several states across the country. “Despite our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. Since many Indian states are shutting down theatres, we are left with no choice. But to ask you to keep your enthusiasm. We Indians We promise to bring back the glory of cinema and at the right time, we will.”
