“About 60% of the Covid victims were suffering from diabetes, hypertension or obesity. While these patients in urban areas were able to easily buy medicines from nearby health centres, people in rural areas were able to get medicines on time. The government’s recent ‘Makkalai’ Thedi Maruthuvam scheme aims to bridge this gap,” Health Minister Ma Subramaniam said.
