Covid cases have peaked, let’s see when the decline starts: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain

New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Saturday that the cases of Kovid-19 have reached the peak in the national capital.

“The peak of cases has come, let’s see when the decline starts… It seems that the cases are starting to slow down,” he said, reported ANI.

Jain further said that the Kovid-19 cases in Delhi are expected to decrease by 4,000 on Saturday.

“The positivity rate will be around 30%. The hospitalization rate has not increased in the last five to six days. This indicates that the cases are going to come down in the coming days,” he said, adding that 85% of hospital beds in Delhi are vacant.

Earlier in the day, the Union Health Ministry said that 2,68,833 new Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours.

“India’s active caseload currently stands at 14,17,820,” the ministry said, adding the active cases stand at 3.85 per cent.

The Health Ministry said that 1,22,684 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,49,47,390.

The ministry also informed that 6,041 cases of Kovid-19 omicron The variant detected so far is a 5.01 percent increase from Friday.

The Health Ministry said that under the nationwide vaccination campaign, more than 156.02 crore doses of Kovid vaccines have been given in the country.

The ministry said that more than 58 lakh COVID vaccine doses were given to the beneficiaries in the last 24 hours, adding this has been achieved through 1,67,37,458 sessions.

The Health Ministry further said that over 70.07 crore Covid-19 tests have been conducted so far, with 16,13,740 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
