Covid-19: Woman Who Arrived in MP from US Via Delhi-Agra Tests Positive; Samples Sent for Genome Sequencing

Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Sanjay Mishra said that the 38-year-old woman, her husband and daughter had come to India on December 23 to meet their relatives and came to Jabalpur via New Delhi and Agra.

A woman who had come to Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur from the United States has tested positive for Covid-19, a senior official said on Friday.

38-year-old woman, her husband and daughter had arrived India Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Sanjay Mishra told that after meeting his family members on December 23, he came to Jabalpur via New Delhi and Agra.

“She complained of cold and cough and got herself tested for coronavirus. Her test report came positive on Thursday. Her samples will be sent to DRDO lab in Gwalior for genome sequencing. Samples of her kin will be taken for Covid during the day -19 test,” he said.

Dr Mishra said, “The woman works in the United States. She had come to India for a family function in Kolkata for three weeks.”

Incidentally, the first set of COVID-19 cases in Madhya Pradesh was detected in Jabalpur on March 20, 2020. Three were members of a family who had returned from Dubai and a fourth person, who had a travel history from Germany, had tested positive.
