Tamil Nadu on Sunday administered 16.02 lakh immunizations (till 9 pm) – well above the set target of 15 lakh – as part of the second mega immunization camp. The first mega camp held on 12th September ended with a historic high coverage of 28.91 lakhs.
Health Minister M Subramaniam told reporters in Dharmapuri that all the vaccines with him in the state have been exhausted and there will be no vaccination at government centers on Monday. “We will have to wait for supplies from the Centre,” he said.
Slight increase in new cases
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in the state rose slightly to 1,697 on Sunday from 1,653 on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 26,45,380.
After 1,5943 persons were discharged, the total number of active cases stood at 16,969. The number of deaths recorded was 27 and 1,56,850 samples were tested.
Chennai reported 232 (204) – 40-day high 7-day moving average of daily new cases showing an increasing trend. With 22,803 more active cases testing positive at 2,011 at 1 per cent, tweeted Covid data analyst Vijayanand.
According to the health department data, the new cases in Coimbatore stood at 215 (201).
