People should be more responsible and follow government guidelines during weddings, he said, adding that the concerned GPs and ULBs have been asked to supervise the works.
“People should strictly follow the restrictions of the government. It is up to the GPs and ULBs to monitor the COVID-19 restrictions in their respective areas. Meanwhile, people should also be responsible and get married within the framework of government restrictions. We have directed the officials of gram panchayats and urban local bodies to initiate action against those who violate rules during weddings. As per the government circular, maximum 400 people are allowed in any function,” the DC said.
He said that many religious programs are also organized in temples, churches and mosques. “Self-regulation is important instead of going for lockdown and other severe restrictions, which will further impact the economy. Don’t be responsible just because the district administration is not taking strict action,” said the DC.
“All malls and multiplexes have been asked to verify the vaccine certificates at the entrance. In the next phase, people’s identity cards will also be checked at the entrance of malls and other public places if there is a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, especially the Omicron variant,” he said.
The DC also cautioned all the students traveling to their homes in Kerala during Christmas to be careful. “Compulsorily bring RT-PCR negative reports and be in quarantine for 7 days. They should not mix with other students during their quarantine. The positivity rate in Kasaragod is around 6% and in Kerala it is 8-9%. In Dakshina Kannada, it is less than 0.2% and there are 164 active cases in the district,” he said.
