BENGALURU: After being shut for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, business establishments in the city will see the light of day as the Bengaluru civic body allowed them to operate with multiple riders, including testing and vaccinating staff at regular intervals.
“In view of the decline in daily Covid-19 infections in the city, the Government of Karnataka Most commercial establishments have been allowed to operate with the condition that all covid protocol,” Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation Chief Commissioner Gauravi Gupta said.
Gupta said in a circular that it is necessary that employees of shops, industries, hotels and restaurants and offices do not get infected and then spread the virus to customers and those visiting such places. In this regard, Gupta made it mandatory for the employer to test and vaccinate the employees. NS bbmp “The employer will ensure 100 per cent immunization of its employees either in government, BBMP immunization centers or in any private hospital at the employer’s cost,” the chief said. At least one dose of vaccination will be followed for employees till August 31, he said. Employees should keep proof of their vaccination status at their workplace and submit it whenever enquired.
The chief commissioner of the corporation said that BBMP marshals and health officers would be authorized to enter such premises during working hours to check compliance with effect from September 1. “Any contravention in this regard shall be liable to fine and shall also be punishable under section 188. Indian Penal Code K. This circular comes into force with immediate effect,” said Gupta. Business establishments were closed in April this year when the second wave hit the state and intensified in May and June. During the peak of Covid in mid-May, the state was reporting more than 50,000 cases daily. Half the case load came from Bengaluru.
