Covid-19: 70,000 recipients found in one-day mega drive in Prayagraj. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: Administered to 70,000 recipients of all age groups covid-19 vaccine On Friday itself, the district health department said.
Health officials said the vaccination drive was still underway at the time of filing this report, and was likely to cross the one lakh recipients mark by the end of the day.
The health department had set a target of giving Covid shots to 1.24 lakh recipients across all age groups during a mega Drive on Friday. For this, more than 400 health teams have been assigned duty at 364 vaccination sites in the district.
At Motilal Nehru Medical College, 1,802 recipients of all age groups were given jab on Friday.
Nodal officer (vaccination), MLN Medical College, Dr Utsav Singh told TOI, “Three international travelers, 316 women at the pink booth and 95 people at the parent special booth, were among those who received the vaccination on Friday.”
All vaccination booths were crowded since Friday morning. There were long queues of recipients in both rural and urban areas. At Bailey Hospital, the police had to be called in to manage the congested streets of recipients.
Police were also seen at other vaccination sites in both urban and rural areas to control crowding of recipients.
Nodal officer and Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr Tirath Lal told TOI that Friday’s mega drive received an overwhelming response, and the portal showed that by 5 pm, over 58,900 recipients had been given doses.
“We expect the tally to cross the one lakh mark soon as more registrations are being done on the portal,” he added.
Dr Lal said that apart from the mega drive, the health department is also making sincere efforts to vaccinate more and more recipients every day.
So far, more than 23 lakh jabs have been given to the beneficiaries of all age groups in the district. About 10% of the targeted beneficiaries are now fully vaccinated, while 38% have been given the first dose. Officials have set a target to vaccinate around 46.10 lakh people this month, including 34 lakh in the age group of 18 to 44 years and 12.18 lakh recipients above the age of 45 years.
In August alone vaccination of more than 5.18 lakh beneficiaries was completed.
