Court issues bailable warrant to IOC officer in contempt case. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday issued a bailable warrant to Dr. Utiya Bhattacharya, Executive Director/State Head, UPSO-1, Indian Oil Corporation.IOC) in a contempt case for non-compliance of the court order and fixed August 9 to appear before the court.
Hearing a contempt application filed by M/s Haji Sons, a dealer of Indian Oil Corporation in Jhansi, Justice Prakash Padia directed the execution of the warrant through the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Lucknow.
The contempt petition alleged that despite the court’s January 27, 2021 order to decide the petitioner’s case with regard to the cancellation of Indian Oil Corporation’s own dealership, no order has been passed.
As per the facts of the case, the dealership of the petitioner was canceled vide order dated 26th December, 2019 on the ground that at the time of inspection, an electronic chip was found in one of the dispensing units of the petitioner for short delivery of the product.
The order of cancellation was challenged on the ground that it was passed without considering their objections. The High Court vide order dated January 27, 2021 had set aside the quashing order and directed for fresh consideration, which was not complied with.
While issuing the bailable warrants, the court was of the view that in spite of serving notices in the contempt proceedings, neither the order was complied with nor any affidavit was filed.
