Fearing arrest in a drug-related investigation in Rajput’s death, Prakash had filed an anticipatory bail application before him. Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Court in October last year. After hearing extensive arguments made by both the defense and the prosecution, Special Judge VV Vidvans rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
However, the court stayed the order allowing Prakash to move the Bombay High Court till August 25. NS Narcotics Control Bureau (NCBIt is probing the alleged nexus between drug smugglers and Bollywood celebrities that emerged after Rajput’s death in June last year. The CBI is probing Rajput’s death case separately.
Prakash’s name cropped up during interrogation of one of the arrested drug smugglers. The central agency has so far arrested more than 20 people as part of its probe in the drug case. Most of the accused including the late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, is currently out on bail.
