Court acquits the accused of abusing doctors in JJ Hospital

A sessions court recently acquitted a man of abusing doctors at the government-run JJ Hospital over an argument over delay in treatment.

In July 2015, more than 90 cataract patients were being screened at JJ Hospital. The accused said that he did not get a bed and complained that patients from some districts were being treated as VIPs. After this, he grabbed the collar of a resident doctor and abused those who intervened.

The court said that neither any independent witness nor the CCTV footage was examined. It also accepted the submission of the accused that the prosecution had not proved that the complainant resident doctor was a public servant discharging his duty.
