Senior India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara redeemed himself with an unbeaten double century in the second innings as Sussex snatched a draw against Derbyshire in the 2022 County Championship on Sunday. Making his debut for Sussex, Pujara was dismissed for six off 15 balls in his first innings on the second day as his team was reduced to 174 in 56.3 overs in reply to Derbyshire’s 505.

However, the Indian put up a stellar performance in his second essay, scoring an unbeaten 201 off 387 balls. His innings had 23 fours. He shared a 351-run partnership with captain Tom Haines (243) to dismiss Sussex for the third wicket, which ended in a draw at 513 for three in 176.1 overs.
The veteran batsman was dropped from the Test squad after the series in South Africa. Ajinkya Rahane was also overlooked for the home series against Sri Lanka.
